Entrepreneur-in-Residence, HealthTech
Brendan is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Oxford Science Enterprises and Venture Fellow at Santé. In his combined role, he focuses on identifying, evaluating and building new health technology ventures, drawing on his experience as a physician, inventor and MedTech entrepreneur.
Before joining OSE and Santé in 2026, Brendan co-founded Loci Orthopaedics, an award-winning medical device company developing novel implant technologies for orthopaedic extremities. As CEO and later Executive Chairperson, he raised more than $25m in equity and non-dilutive funding, led the company from concept through clinical development, and built a global intellectual property portfolio with more than 70 granted patents.
Earlier in his career, Brendan completed a Fellowship at BioInnovate Ireland, the international affiliate of Stanford Biodesign, before undertaking a Research Fellowship at NUI Galway, where he co-developed the technology that became the foundation of Loci Orthopaedics. Most recently, he was Head of Consulting, MedTech at EY (Ireland), advising medical device companies and healthcare organisations on strategy, commercialisation and market access. He has also served as a Guest Lecturer on the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice Programme at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Brendan holds degrees in Medicine from University College Dublin and BioInnovation from University College Cork. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and a Fellow of BioInnovate Ireland.
