Ed joined Oxford Science Enterprises in September 2023, bringing over 20 years of business leadership and entrepreneurial experience.
As OSE’s CEO, Ed is responsible for the company’s strategic vision, overall operations, and ensuring OSE is living up to its mission of translating scientific research into commercially successful businesses, while also providing value to its key stakeholders.
Ed is a serial entrepreneur having launched, scaled and successfully exited three venture backed, disruptive technology businesses during his career. These include one of the UK’s first ecommerce businesses figleaves.com (acquired by N Brown Group), mobile app pioneer ZYB (acquired by Vodafone) and most recently the award-winning, multi-language ecommerce content platform Quill (acquired by global digital agency Jellyfish).
Recognised as a digital thought leader in the UK, Ed has been awarded UK Entrepreneur of the Year, Disruptor of the Year, and twice been included on the Sunday Times’ list of 500 most influential people in Britain.
Ed commenced his career in the Royal Navy, followed by various national roles in the UK Diplomatic Service. He holds a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
